Cambodia has a few
festivals when World of Hope School Cambodia will be closed so to avoid disappointment please view our calendar to see the times when the children will not be in attendance.
Is there a cost to volunteer at World of Hope School?
Yes, there is. World of Hope School is a grass roots, hands-on Non-Government Organisation (NGO) operating in one of the poorest provinces in Cambodia. Its ability to exist and to continue to deliver its humanitarian work is dependent on the donations of individuals, fundraising and sponsorship. A flat fee of US$500 is charged for volunteer placements, whether for one week or one month. A deposit of US$200 is required when submitting your application by bank transfer to either our Cambodian or Australian Bank account as per our website with final payment of US$300 payable 4 weeks before your placement begins unless otherwise negotiated.
Volunteer placement fees
The volunteer placement fee directly supports our building needs, education requirements and Khmer staff salaries. World of Hope’s teachers are also underprivileged and their salaries
help fund their higher education.
Your placement fee also also covers transfer from the airport to your nominated accommodation and an orientation tour of Siem Reap town, including handy tips on services, restaurants etc. At the commencement of your placement you will receive a World of Hope water bottle and volunteer t-shirt. On completion you will receive a Certificate of Appreciation.
Some volunteers choose to hold their
own fundraisers, creating awareness for World of Hope School and their
pending adventure, raising money at the same time. Please be aware some crowdfunding platforms charge commission, World of Hope School can, if
requested, waive the Volunteer Placement Fee for funds raised in excess of US$750.
Due to legal requirements you must
produce a Current Police Check before you volunteer at World of Hope
School Cambodia this applies even to people who have volunteered at World of
Hope School Cambodia before. It needs to be less than 3 years old and applies to all over the age of 18
will I stay and how much will it cost?
We recommend that volunteers stay at our friendly partner, Rithy Rine Angkor Hotel. #0509, Wat bo Village, Cambodia.
Rithy Rine is a traditional family owned hotel located 5 minutes from the centre of Siem Reap and markets. We’ve found that staying with other volunteers provides a great support system and the camaraderie shared is a very unique and positive experience. You can see their facilities at www.rithyrineangkorhotel.com/ (prices quoted on Rithy Rine website will differ from those below as World of Hope offers corporate discount). Rithy Rine has a Restaurant that serves Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Lunch and dinner are from the menu where you will receive 25% off your meal.
Twin/Double Room $19 Per night ($9.50 per person)
Buffet breakfast is included in this rates
Room included Safe Deposit Box

Upon World of Hope School Cambodia receiving your Volunteer Placement Fee, we can arrange your accommodation if requested, however all accommodation costs will remain your responsibility and must be settled directly between your guesthouse/hotel and yourself.
What hours am I expected to work?
Classes run daily between 08:00 and 10:30 and again from 14:00 to 16:30. Optional 17:00 to 18:00 with adult students. We ask each volunteer to commit to either the morning, afternoon or both sessions. The balance of time can be used for sight-seeing or other personal activities.
Painting of classrooms may
occur on a Saturday however this will only be for ½ day.
We encourage you to see as
much of Siem Reap and surrounding areas to complement your volunteering
experience, and to gain a greater understanding of the Khmer history and
culture. Rey, the school director will
organise all your tour needs if required. Tours include trips to the ancient
Hindu temple Angkor Wat, the Floating Village, the Flooded Forest, Kulen
Mountain, and many others surrounding Siem Reap. Rithy Rine can also assist with tours.
Entering and exiting Cambodia
Tourist visa – on arrival US$30
Business Visa – on arrival US$35
It is possible to organise your visa before you travel at https://www.evisa.gov.kh/.
Good food is relatively cheap in Cambodia. Meals range from US$2 - $5 per meal, depending on your taste buds. A large variety of food is available from traditional Khmer, vegetarian, pizza, Mexican to roast dinners. Bottled water is available on every street corner for approximately US$0.50 cents.
Tuk tuk from Rithy Rine to World of Hope School is US$3 each way or US$5 for return trip. This can be shared with up to four people. This service is offered by our driver, No. He is a trusted friend of WOHS and will be organised when you arrive in Siem Reap. An alternative means of transport is by bicycle and are quite a popular way to get around Siem Reap. There are many places to hire a bicycle.
What vaccinations do I need for Cambodia?
Please refer to your local Doctor for advice on the vaccinations required for Cambodia or follow your country’s Government Travel and Health Advisory Council.
Do I need Medical Travel Insurance?
This of course is a personal preference, however World of Hope School strongly recommends you do. Most Travel Agents can organise Comprehensive Medical Insurance for you for a very reasonable cost. It can be very expensive to seek medical treatment. Cambodia is a developing country and good quality healthcare in Siem Reap is practically non-existent. If a serious illness or accident does eventuate, you may need to be airlifted to a neighbouring equipped hospital.
Please note that World of Hope School Cambodia is not liable for any loss, damage, health issues or injuries you may incur.
WHERE TO NEXT?
